About Miss Excellence Maths

Miss Excellence Maths is a competition organized by the association LE YAYA to promote academic excellence in mathematics among young Congolese girls. In addition to encouraging scientific careers, this event aims to reward academic performance and raise awareness about the importance of equal opportunities in education.

1

Encouraging Excellence

Miss Excellence Maths promotes excellence in mathematics by combining motivation, recognition, mentorship, community, and opportunities. This program helps young girls to realize the full potential that their mathematical skills can unlock, boosting their confidence and providing them with the resources needed to achieve their academic and professional goals.

2

Promoting Equality

Miss Excellence Maths promotes equality by providing young girls with opportunities, support, and visibility in mathematics, a field where women are often underrepresented. Through an inspiring environment and enhanced guidance, the program paves the way toward a more inclusive and equitable society, where every young person, regardless of gender, can fully realize their potential in science and mathematics.

3

Rewarding Talent

Miss Excellence Maths honors mathematical talent by providing official awards, scholarships, academic opportunities, mentorship, and unique experiences that encourage young girls to continue excelling in this field. These rewards support their progress, increase their visibility, and help them build a network, opening the door to lasting academic and professional opportunities.

Testimonials from the Winners

“I am 13 years old. I feel pretty good, not too stressed. I’m participating in this competition to test my knowledge, to prove to myself that I am capable of winning this prize.”

Samira BIAB-PHILIPPE

“I am 14 years old and a student at Anne Marie Javouhey School. I’m a little nervous, but it’s okay. I want to be the best in this competition because when you enter a competition, it’s to win.”

Privilège BAKAMBA

“I’m a student at HD School. I’m participating in this math competition because I know I have the ability to make it to the finals and be among the top three.”

Exaucée Georgia KULE YATIBAMBU

“I am very happy to have won this award because it means so much to me. I worked extremely hard to achieve this. Having it in my hands today means my efforts, and those of my math teacher who supported me up to the final, were not in vain. I thank the association LE YAYA for thinking of Congolese young women, and I encourage all girls to pursue science because often, girls and boys tend to think that sciences are only for boys, when in reality, we girls are just as capable.”

Adrianna Belham MOKOUENDZA-LINDZEKET,after the award ceremony

“As parents, we can only thank the association LE YAYA for its commitment to developing the potential of our youth. To other parents: encourage your children to participate in this competition, which can be a springboard for developing their skills and for building a network of future women leaders.”

Nardes MOKOUENDZA, Parent of a Student
