Out of the six cities visited during the awareness phase, four were selected for the first edition of the Miss Excellence Maths competition: Brazzaville, Pointe-Noire, Dolisie, and Ouesso.
The competition took place from July 23 to 27, 2024, following this program:
- Phase 1: Semifinals
The semifinals were held in the departments where the candidates’ schools are located. A total of 150 selected girls, each with a minimum average score of 14 in mathematics over the first two terms, competed.
The top 11 candidates (including one pair of tied scores, which exceeded the planned 10 finalists as per competition rules) advanced to the finals in Brazzaville on July 27, 2024. Five of these qualifiers came from Ouesso, Pointe-Noire, and Dolisie and were accommodated, along with a parent, in a residence arranged by LE YAYA association. - Phase 2: Finals
The finals were held in Brazzaville and followed the same structure as the semifinals, with two math test challenges.
Due to another tie among the finalists, the initial three-winner plan expanded to a four-winner format.
In addition to the final competition, LE YAYA organized two activities for the finalists and association members to strengthen camaraderie and foster learning.
- Activity 1:
An excursion around Brazzaville to visit historical sites, ending with a tour of Zoolandia Park and a meal at a local restaurant. - Activity 2:
A full day at the residence for candidates from cities outside Brazzaville. The day included games, meals, and social activities.
These activities aimed to build a sense of belonging, foster community spirit, and teach Congolese history in an interactive, engaging way.
